Dan Larimer
Dan Larimer is an American programmer and crypto entrepreneur. One of the creators of BitShares, Steem and EOS. He is a software engineer and entrepreneur specializing in blockchain, cryptocurrency, distributed platforms, and economics.

Early years
Daniel Larimer was born in Colorado and spent his training years in Virginia and Florida. Dan’s father, Stan Larimer, worked for Boeing and later formed a blockchain consulting firm with his son Cryptonomex Inc. Larimer received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Virginia Polytechnic University in 2003.
Work in cryptocurrency
Dan Larimer was already interested in the blockchain in 2009 when Bitcoin started. Then he spoke to the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, in the Bitcoin forum. Larimer worried about a large number of central stock exchanges, and he concluded that a decentralized exchanger should be created. So Dan Larimer creates the BitShares platform and the dollar-bound BitUSD cryptocurrency.
In 2013, Larimer founded BitShares (formerly ProtoShares), which was founded to work with virtual company stock. Thus, BitShares became a platform, digital currency, and exchange, and was a decentralized autonomous organization based on the paradigms of Ethereum‘s DAO.

Steem
Dan Larimer retires in 2016 from Bitshares to Steem, a company founded in partnership with Ned Scott, who creates the Steemit application. It is a social network that uses the blockchain to reward users for the content they create. Larimer will be Technology Director at Steem until March 2017.

In June 2017, Dan Larimer became Director of Technology at EOS, a blockchain platform for distributed applications.
Educational role
On November 29, 2018, Larimer held a seminar on Blockchain in Alma Mater of Virginia Polytechnic University. He also contributed to the development of the University’s curriculum, as Block.one donated $ 3 million. University for the development of blockchain learning technologies.
On January 26, 2019, Larimer attended a training camp on the campus of Blacksburg Virginia Tech. The event was conducted by Virginia Tech and Block.one to help students understand the latest EOSIO blockchain technologies.
