MedCredits is the first decentralized platform built on the Ethereum blockchain that connects patients to doctors for healthcare services. MedCredits was founded in December 2016 by Columbia University graduates, Dr. James Todaro and Dr. Moshe Praver. The platform provides tools for open-source development of healthcare applications.
MedCredits leverages blockchain technology to increase access to healthcare and decrease cost. It does this by creating an open-market for healthcare services. The first software release 'Hippocrates' is a user-friendly app on the MedCredits platform connecting patients to dermatologists for fast diagnoses at a fraction of the cost.
At the core of the MedCredits application stack is a token-curated physician registry. Using a staking model and a consensus-by-vote protocol, the physician registry is decentrally curated by anyone who holds the MEDX token.
