Wibson is a blockchain-based, decentralized data marketplace that provides individuals a way to securely and anonymously sell validated private information in a trusted environment.

What is Wibson?[edit]

Introduction[edit]

The Internet is a fundamentally decentralized system that links billions of interconnected devices to improve communication, access to information, and economic possibilities for billions of people across the globe. Yet despite its distributed nature, giant technology companies have cleverly used the underlying technical protocols to build layers of proprietary applications that capture and control massive amounts of personal data. In today’s economy, data equals money.

This broken data ecosystem misallocates data’s value away from its rightful owner –the individual– and prevents society from effectively tackling many of its biggest challenges. The time has come for citizens to regain control over their personal data and actively participate in the value it creates.

The Challenge[edit]

In today’s economy, data equals money. Unfortunately, it doesn’t mean money for you.

Giant tech companies cleverly use the Internet’s underlying technical protocols to capture and control your personal information.

Solution[edit]

We propose a new market-based approach that leverages the latest developments in blockchain, cryptography and market design to level the playing field between data consumers (companies, organizations) and data owners (essentially, individuals).

The Wibson data marketplace provides infrastructure and financial incentives for individuals to securely sell private information that is validated for accuracy, all without sacrificing personal privacy.

Decentralized Data Marketplace[edit]

Wibson is a blockchain-based, decentralized data marketplace that provides the infrastructure for individuals to securely and anonymously sell private information that is validated for accuracy.

Wibson is built up on a set of core principles: transparency, anonymity, fairness, censorship resistant, and the individual’s ultimate control over the use of their personal information.

Wibson Core Values

In the Wibson marketplace, citizens, for the first time, will be able to participate in an efficiently functioning, decentralized data marketplace that provides both financial incentives and control over their personal information, all without sacrificing privacy.

Wibson Protocol

Participants[edit]

The Wibson Data Marketplace includes three types
of participants: Data Owners, Data Buyers, and Notaries.

Data Owners are users looking to monetize their data in a safe and easy way. Data owners can get control of their data and monetize it using Wibson app.

Data Buyers are businesses or other entities looking to purchase valid and trustworthy data directly from consumers.

Notaries serve as a verification system to certify participants, validate data quality and trustworthiness, and arbitrate disputes. Notaries are optional.

Protocol[edit]

The protocol is the backbone of the Wibson data marketplace and the fundamental concept that will make Wibson a safe and secure place for both Data Sellers and Data Buyers to transact on the blockchain. Wibson Protocol is uniquely architected to create the greatest data security practices yet conceived to support revenue generating data exchange.
